Dawn Creative Team Info

We are so glad you're here! Grab your coffee or boba tea, put up your feet, and get acquainted with our creative team info.

We feel immensely blessed to partner with you as we encourage fellow Christians to connect with God more consistently and nurture their mental wellbeing. Through the app our subscribers can experience God on their own terms and in their own words. Your words come alongside them with inspiration, support, and practical wisdom. Thank you for being part of this team and contributing to this vision.

Dawn’s Creative Mission

  • We create beautiful and theologically sound content that inspires our readers to pursue spiritual growth. We align with an atmosphere of encouragement, Biblical rest, and keeping God at the center of all things.

  • We share from personal experience and scripture authentically and thoughtfully without preaching to, using I/we. We speak from our unique point of view but are careful to not exclude others unnecessarily. We use a conversational tone over formal (humor is good where appropriate).

  • We provide a clear focus and take away for each piece, even as we strive for depth and meaningful words.

Devotion Format & Tips for Season 7

  • Content: Your devotion will provide encouragement to our app members that will supplement their Daily Practice, as well as speak to readers of our blog. The theme for Season 7 is “Be Bold”. We hope to inspire our audience to (1) fight fear and take courageous steps of faith for their own personal growth, (2) to pursue relationship with God with the confidence of a beloved child of God, and (3) to be bold in reaching out to their community right where God has placed them. For your devotion, you will share on a sub-topic of one of these three areas of boldness based around a scripture you feel is a good fit. We have developed some topic and scripture reference ideas (see “Topic ideas” tab at the top or bottom of your spreadsheet window) that you are welcome to use.

  • Structure: Keep your devotion to 300-500 words in length, not including your bio. Please include 1-2 journal prompts for readers at the end of each piece. You will provide a headshot with your devotion, if you haven’t previously, or if you have a new one you want us to use. No other images are required. We retain the right to add images, and to make minor edits. If a piece of content requires more substantive edits, we will let you know and collaborate with you. If you haven’t previously or if you have updates, please provide a bio of 100 words or less, and include links to your website or landing page and 2 social links.

  • Scripture use: Each devotion is anchored by a scripture that we will include at the end of the piece (1-4 verses long) to give it focus or direction. However, it is not an in-depth scripture study. Be careful to not take scripture out of context or apply it too broadly when that is not the scripture’s intent. Feel free to ask if you’re unsure. Scriptures need to be NIV due to contractual obligations. References should look like the following: (Mark 2:14, NIV).

  • Special note: We have a wide variety of readers - men and women, at various ages and life stages. It’s okay for a handful of pieces each season to have a limiting topic, like singlehood or motherhood, but most should be relevant to a larger group.

Here’s the process…

  • 1st, choose the topic you want to highlight. Unique angles are welcomed. Also choose a short scripture passage you want to use and enter it and your suggested devotion title into this Google doc so our writers don’t overlap content too much:
    Use this Google doc

  • 2nd, we can only select 16 pieces for this season, so I will get back to you by August 7th to let you know if your topic is selected.

  • 3rd, if your piece is chosen please submit your devotional and relevant info by August 31, 2023.
Use this Google form to submit your work

  • Fourth, promote your devotions on your social media and to your email list (if applicable) using the links we provide. We will send you images as well.

Here’s what we want to do for you…

We value your time and your work, and we want this to feel like a rewarding partnership. These are the ways we hope to support you this season.

  • Promotion, social media - At the beginning of June we will let you know when your written piece will run. We will send you social images and links you can use to help promote your piece. It will be published in our public blog (gatheratdawn.com/blog) and also within our app, including your bio and 2 links. We will promote your piece on the home screen of our app, in our weekly email, and on social media (and tag you).

  • Revenue sharing, app - We will provide you with a tracking link for the app and pay you $1 for every person who installs the Apple app using your link during this season. You can promote this at any time you wish, not just when your piece is published. We will provide additional social images that you can use. (We are working on a link for Androids as well.) Look for this email/link at the beginning of February.

  • Dawn Subscription - We will provide you with a free annual subscription to the Dawn app. Let us know if you don’t have a subscription and want to take advantage of this offer.

  • Collaboration with other writers - If you haven’t already, we would love for you to join the Dawn Contributors group on Facebook and to make this a useful resource for like-minded creatives. When you are promoting a new blog post, download, book, or other resource that you feel is relevant to our respective audiences, please share it to our group so we can Like, Comment, and Share it. Please limit to 1 promotional post a week and be sure to support other writers when you share your own promotions. Feel free to ask other questions of the group or post useful/relevant information about conferences, recommendations etc. as much as you need.
