Hey friend,
We at Dawn have some big news that feels sad and hopeful at the same time. On June 29 we'll be sunsetting the Dawn app and officially discontinuing the product. I have known this was coming for a while and have been in deep denial, because I love the app and its community. And I love providing a space for people to meet with God. What could be better than that?
In To Be Told, Dan B. Allender writes that God invites us to partner with Him in writing our stories—stories that not only reveal His glory but also create it. Creating things like the app has been one of my greatest joys, but letting God take the lead hasn’t always come easily. And, as it turns out, every good story includes hair-raising pivots. This is one of mine.
I started creating the Daily Practice during Covid lockdown as a way of surviving the tedium, uncertainty, and my own spiritual stagnation. This grew into a dream of having the Daily Practice in easy, app form, which I brought to fruition with my close friend Paula.
As the app progressed I found myself more wrapped up in the business side and growing farther away from my core love of connecting through writing. I also felt drawn to deeper 1-on-1 work – through coaching, counseling, and couples work with my husband. I have packed it all in for years, and am ready to be more focused in my pursuits.
The good news is that this is not the end of Dawn as a mindful faith company. There are more chapters to be written. But before I get into what happens next…

Lastly, and most importantly, thank you for taking a chance on our app, and for bringing your faith and vulnerability to it. I hope we can keep growing together in imperfect, purposeful faith. And if you know you need to pivot, but it feels scary and hard, I hope you take the leap sooner rather than later. God has a great story to write with you.
With love,
Angie Gibbons
